Banks in Melbourne, similarly to the rest of Australia, are generally open for business from 9 or 9:30 am to 4 or 4:30 pm and some may stay open a bit longer on Friday afternoons.

Are banks open on the weekend in Australia?
In recent years, luckily, some banks in Australia have expanded their normal operating hours to also include the weekends.
A limited number of branches are open on the weekend however their hours will often be reduced.
If banks open on the weekend, they will generally be open on Saturday with some rare exceptions open on Sunday. If your bank is closed on on the weekend, keep in mind ATMs are usually active 24 hours per day as well as mobile banking apps – check your bank website for details.

ANZ bank opening and closing hours
In central Melbourne, ANZ branches are open 9:30am to 04:00pm Monday to Friday, with some branches open a little later on some days and some on weekends.
Is ANZ open on Saturday or on the whole weekend?
At the time of writing, the only Melbourne CBD ANZ branch open on the weekend is the ANZ Home Bourke Street Mall (331-339 Bourke St). The specialised branch is open on Saturday however keep in mind the shorter hours of operation (9:30am to 2:30pm at the time of writing). Also note there is no teller/ cash services at this location.

Commonwealth Bank opening and closing hours
Most Commonwealth branches work between 9:30am and 4:00pm and on some days may be open until 5:00pm.
Is Commonwealth Bank open on Saturday or Sunday?
Within Melbourne CBD, Commonwealth Bank in Bourke Street (385 Bourke Street) is open between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Saturdays at the time of writing.
Commonwealth Bank branches in Melbourne centre are closed on Sundays and so are not open throughout the weekend.
